Meet in Marrakech airport or at your hotel., Today will be dedicated to explore Marrakech. Evening drums will draw you to the Djemaa El Fna (main city square). It’s a festival atmosphere, with snake charmers, Berber and Gnoua musicians, and storytellers illuminated by lamplight and wreathed in smoke. Food stalls on the square sell fresh salads, soups, fried fish and chips, chicken and beef kebabs and even boiled snails or sheep’s head. Finish it off with a glass of sweet cinnamon tea.
After Breakfast, we leave Marrakech on our back and we drive via the high Atlas Mountains where the road is traced upon 2000 m altitude. We go through Tichka pass (7 217,85 ft altitude) which links Marrakech to the south of Morocco, and used to be the gateway to the sub-Saharan countries, especially Tomboctou. Stop for lovely pictures, and Berber villages sightseeing. Move forwards on the way of caravans to reach Ait Ben haddou Village for lunch. The Kasbah of Ait Ben haddou is an eleven century citadel which is declared on the 80s as a protected UNESCO site, and an impressive sight for film directors. Numerous films have been shouted such as “Jesus of Nazareth”, the “man who would be a King”, Lawrence of Arabia and so on. After lunch, we continue to Ouarzazate, etymologically refers to the noiseless town, and it’s known under the name of “Hollywood of Africa. We continue via Skoura to reach Kelaa Mgouna.
After breakfast, we drive on the way of thousand Kasbah following the Dades Valley till Boumalne Dades with stops along the way. We Continue to Todgha Gorges, a canyon which stands in 300m altitude and along which the Todghra River flows. We keep moving to Alnif where we take the off road leading through separated villages through the dried desert. Here the story of the real desert starts. We drive on black desert called Hamada where meet isolated villages and nomad who graze their camels and goats on the area. Auberge Aghbalou Ramlia / Campfire.
In the morning, we make a visit of the village of Ramlia, and have tea with a family. It is a small village in the borders. A visit to the small gardens will be also included. 2h30 min is enough to take us to Merzouga. Before, we stop in another village which is inhabited by black families who descended from the Big Sahara with whom we enjoy sometimes of Gnawa music. After lunch, we take you to the hotel where you prepare for the camel trek. At the hotel, we leave our luggage and we start the camel trek into the dunes of Erg Chebbi. You enjoy your times on sandy dunes and the beautiful sunset. Overnight stay under nomad tent.
Wake up before sunrise for lovely pictures. The sunrise gives the sand a fascinating range of colours. Trek back to the hotel for breakfast and showers. Departure to Ouarzazate via Rissani with a stop in its authentic souk. We move on via Alnif, Tazzarine then Nkoub where we take our time for lunch. We drive to Ouarzazate via the lush Draa palm groves. Arrival to Ouarzazate in the early evening.
At the appropriate time, we depart to Marrakech via the alternative way of Telout village where after a while we join the Tichka pass. We stop In Telouet Kasbah for a visit. We drive the rest of our journey to Marrakech.
At the right time, we collect you from the hotel for transfer to the airport.
